Yoga for dealing with Cancer

Yoga offers an array of tools to assist people when dealing with difficult situations in their lives. A regular practice provides so many wonderful benefits on a physical, mental and emotional level.

In January 2008 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. This initially came as a shock as I felt physically fantastic and also because I was young (33).  I have heard many people say that cancer is their greatest teacher. And I too can say it has been a teacher. But my greatest lessons have come from going  through chemotherapy. I can truly say that chemotherapy has taught the life lessons that I needed to learn.  Although this was a hard time on a physical and emotional level, it provided the opportunity for inner growth taken to a level that I had never experienced before. I feel blessed to have been granted with this gift to explore and truly get to know my 'self'.

Yoga and meditation has played an integral part in my journey to healing my whole being. Upon being diagnosed with cancer, I innately knew that I needed to explore the emotional links/causes of dis-ease in my body and this has been a journey in itself. I am now studying Acu Energetics which is a healing modality that has assisted in my journey to the 'self'.

A yoga practice that is designed specifically for you which takes into consideration all that you are going through is crucial at a time when you are dealing with cancer and cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and/radiation.
